McDonald's Chocolate Doughnut Review

Sunday 30 November 2014

Florida Food Diary - Day 3

On Sunday the 5th October, we played mini golf and had a bit of an exploration drive and hit a few supermarkets.

Breakfast

Ponderosa - I had Sausages, Bacon, Pancakes, Blueberry Waffle, Scrambled Eggs, Scrambled Eggs w/ Mexian stuff and Maple Syrup. It was awesome.

We skipped lunch, obviously because breakfast so huge and this built up our appetite for dinner at Olive Garden.

Dinner

Garlic Breadsticks, Soup (meat and pasta...bit like chilli) and Lasagne. For dessert we finally tried the Zeppoliti Doughnuts with chocolate sauce.

Olive Garden is so good it makes me weep.

Tesco Custard Cream Spread Review

So a couple of weeks ago this little product (the little product that could) burst it's way onto social media. I saw lots of people commenting about it and had felt saddened that we hadn't reviewed it sooner, because we actually saw it a couple of months ago.

Anyway, there is no time to feel sad when a product like this exists. It's worth noting that it's made with 37% Custard Cream Biscuits, so it's certainly authentic.

I encourage you to watch the video above as mere words cannot do this product justice.

Florida Food Diary - Day 2

This was the food that we ate on Saturday 4th October, when we visited the Florida Mall for a shopping spree.

Jumbos @ The Hotel

The hotel included breakfast, and it was a mixture of cooked and cereal etc. Claire and I actually only ate here once...wasn't bad, just not too special!

Waffles, Scrambled Eggs, Tater Tots and "Breakfast Syrup" which was like maple syrup but without the flavour! It wasn't bad though, I enjoyed it and was glad that I got to try Tater Tots for the first time. They were a lot like balls of hash browns.

Five Guys @ Florida Mall

Absolutely ridiclous. One of my favourite ever meals.I had what they call a Bacon Cheeseburger, but what I identify as a Double Bacon Cheeseburger. Skin on incredible fries. Just perfect.

Taco Bell

Crunchy taco, soft tacos and cinnabon delights. Absolutely amazing things they are - one of the best things I've put in my mouth. Claire had a Chicken Chalupa Supreme.

Florida Food Diary - Day 1

Welcome to the first of my Florida Food Diary where I will guide you through everything (well almost everything....the main meals and big snacks) we had on our recent holiday.

On the first day, we pretty much just flew there and crashed at the hotel, so here we go;

V-Room (Virgin) At London Gatwick

Cooked breakfast consisting of Bacon, Sausage, Scrambled Egg, Mushroom, Lightly Seeded Toast and Beans. Was pretty nice. I love cooked breakfast, and it all seemed pretty good quality, despite being "canteen" type food. Low four!

White Chocolate & Macadamia Nut Cookie - This one really surprised me - tasted a lot like a Subway cookie but with a more cooked, cakey texture. High four.

Virgin Atlantic Flight

Beef Chilli Con Carne with Rice, cheese and creme fraiche. Surprisingly good. Nice flavour and not bad texture. Three stars.

GU Mango Passionfruit Cheesecake - I cannot believe how good this was. Texture was great, but the flavour was so amazing. Perfect balance of tropical flavours with deep sweetness, the mango and passionfruit balanced so well together. These people know how to make a pud - PLANE FOOD GETTING A FIVE STAR REVIEW?!?!?!?!

Tyrrells Plane Crisps - Fun packaging, a tiny bag with tiny crisps in and called "Plane Crisps", they were okay! Not my personal favourite texture, but normal crisps like this aren't really my thing. Low three stars.

Flippers Pizza

We had a few different types of Pizza from the local pizzeria chain in Orlando. We had Triple Pepperoni, which was just a tiny bit disappointing. They took a long long time to deliver so it was a little cooler than hoped, but it was still nice. Lots of cheese and a premium quality pepperoni.

My favourite was the Margarita pizza (unsure of spelling). Big disks of mozzerella on it with a load of basil! Worked perfectly together with the very high quality and tasty tomato pomodoro sauce. Four stars.

Couture Treats Macarons Review

Couture Treats are a small treat firm based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. This seems to be becoming one of the UK hot spots for fine foods, with (I believe) a number of Michelin star chefs also choosing to use Marlow as their breeding ground.

David and I reviewed these macarons, which David purchased at the recent Thame Fair.

Words really can't do these macarons justice. They are some of the best I've ever had. They were quite large and aerated which sets them apart from other macarons I have had. There were some classic flavours in there like Vanilla and Pistachio, which were both excellent (particularly the pistachio which was very strongly flavoured), but the real star of the show was the unusual Bubblegum flavoured macaron. The difference with this one was that peanut was used instead of almond. It was so different, and the peanut was surprisingly strong but it went so well with the bubblegum flavour that I consider it a bit of a revelation!

Visit www.CoutureTreats.co.uk to see them for yourself, and be sure to follow them on Twtter, @CoutureTreatsUK

I massively recommend these people if you are anywhere close to local!

Six stars. Boom.

Back From Florida!

Yes we are finally back from Florida!

We had an incredible time, but you came here to hear about the food. Well the food, for the most part was incredible too. The quality is high, the choice is absurd and the flavour combinations are beyond anything we usually see in the United Kingdom.

I wrote a Food Diary listing everything that we ate on each day over the course of the two weeks, so I'll probably be making some special videos soon going into that.

I had some of the best food I've ever had over there, and a couple of things that might be the best things that have ever entered my lips.

I look forward to brining you this content in the coming months!

Barr's Originals Cream Soda With Raspberry Review

Disclaimer : I LOVE THIS DRINK.

This is Barr's Originals Cream Soda with a twist of Raspberry. And oh boy does that twist raise what would otherwise be a pretty ordinary (but still delicious) cream soda. Cream soda happens to be one of my favourite drinks, and I recently reviewed their standard edition.

This one is nicely carbonated, with quite a light level that isn't too sharp. It's not overly sweet either, and the nice crisp vanilla flavour has good depth and comes through nicely. The star of the show is the Raspberry. Almost giving a similar glorious union to the combination of Raspberry and Milk of Swizzels Matlow Drumstick chews, this is a partnership of flavours that happily skip over each other and compliment eachother perfectly.

Big big fan, the only problem is availability....definitely available in Waitrose and online, but not many other places! If you see it, get it!

Ben & Jerry's Satisfy My Bowl UK Review

I believe this flavour has previously been available in the US of A, but it is now available in the U of K.

The actual flavour is Banana ice cream with caramel and cookie swirls and chocolate peace signs.

It's very similar to Chunky Monkey which is Banana ice cream with walnuts and chocolate banana shapes, but I think it's actually a little better. It's a shame that you lose the nicely flavoured and textured walnuts but you gain oh so much from the cookie and caramel.

The caramel adds sweetness and a more luxurious texture, and the strong flavour of the cookies comes through surprisingly well in the swirls. The texture is also really good of the cookies because you get small almost grit like pieces....but appetising.

Really big fan, tastes like banoffee pie.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Golden Biscuit Crunch Review

Thanks again to friend and member of the FRUK team David Flavin for spotting this item and providing it to me for my consumption and review.

This is a golden biscuit and milk chocolate flavour cream version of the Dairy Milk bar.

This was more what I was expecting the Chips Ahoy! variety  to be like to be honest! There is a very nice crisp layer of biscuit (well...crunch) and it does really have a well baked "golden" taste to it, so the title of the bar wins points for accuracy.

The chocolate flavour cream is very sweet, and slightly gets lost in amongst the chocolate and the strong biscuit flavour. The overall texture was very good and very satisfying.

This was, as expected a great product and another good tool in the Cadbury arsenal!

Rolo Ritz Sandwich | Food Review UK Fusions

Rolo! Ritz! Rolo Ritz Cracker Sandwich! Sweet and salty, chewy and crispy, it's a Food Review UK Fusion that seems to hit all the bases.

This is a recipe that's all over Pinterest and the internet in general and I couldn't find a video recipe and review for it so I did one myself! Enjoy.

Hershey's With Almond Review

Hershey's chocolate gets a bad rap/wrap in the UK!

We decide to find out why. Turns out....it doesn't deserve it! Yes, the chocolate tastes very different to the ultra creamy and indulgent, sweet tastes of the likes of Cadburys and Galaxy, but at least it has it's own distinct flavour.

The almonds add a nice crunch and a decent amount of strong flavour, whose slight milkyness/chalkyness goes well with the deep chocolate.

Good bar! Check out the video for full thoughts.

Pepsi Throwback Review

I review Pepsi Throwback, which is made with real sugar, rather than sweetners (or possibly sweetners as well...if you're looking for hard facts you've come to the wrong place I'm afraid). It mimics the original recipe of original Pepsi. I think.

So....I really...could barely tell the difference between this Pepsi Throwback and regular Pepsi. I'd like to do a taste test one day, and maybe I will soon....but for the additional money of importation, it's pointless.

Still a nice drink though!

Drumstick Squashies Bubblegum Website Exclusive Review

Welcome to this website exclusive review for the new flavour of Drumstick Squashies and thank you for checking out the website.

This is the bubblegum flavour, similar to the typical bubblegum flavoured sweets that you get (like the fizzy, foamy bubblegum bottles). The flavour is almost identical to those sweets, but the smooth squashiness of this product and of course, the lack of the fizzy outer sugar glaze, makes these taste almost smooth, and crisp and clean.

The flavour is nice, and it's a bit strange to have that flavour, in a squidgy sweetie and for it to not taste sour and fizzy. The texture is really nice, just like the other Squashies, really easy to eat and the flavour packs a punch.

Check out the video above for the full review.

McDonald's Quadruple Cheeseburger Review (Fusions)

I made the bold step of fusing together two (plain) double cheeseburgers from McDonald's to create the almighty, meaty beast of the quadruple cheeseburger.

Words alone cannot do this behemoth of fast food justice, so please watch the above video and be astounded at the beefiness.

Chips Ahoy! Crispy Chocolate Caramel Review

Chips Ahoy! Has been released in the UK!

It has launched with two varieties, this one which is a Popcorn, Candy Chip (Smarties type thing) and chocolate chip, and the other one is a chocolate cookie with chocolate chips, cornflakes and caramel crispy bits.

This one is a bit more interesting than the popcorn one. The actual flavour of the cookie is a deep and somewhat milky chocolate, quite sweet. The caramel flavouring is nice and strong, and the texture is great, thanks to the combination of the short and crispy cookie, the crunchy flakes and the almost honeycomb like caramel.

These flavours are strong, rich but sweet too, and with the chocolate chips adding yet another flavour and texture, these cookies really are a bit of a taste sensation.

Very different than any other cookie on the UK market and I look forward to seeing more varieties!

This one gets four stars!

Chips Ahoy! Popcorn Candy Chip Review

Chips Ahoy! Has been released in the UK!

It has launched with two varieties, this one which is a Popcorn, Candy Chip (Smarties type thing) and chocolate chip, and the other one is a chocolate cookie with chocolate chips, cornflakes and caramel crispy bits.

This one is certainly the slightly blander of the two, with the greatest comparison to be drawn against Maryland cookies. The slight saltiness from the caramelised popcorn is a nice touch, and the texture of it is it's biggest draw - slight chewiness from the popcorn and an interesting mix with the candy chips and the chocolate chips.

It was good, but the other ones are better! Check out the other review to read more about that.

Three stars for this one!

Subway Meatball Marinara Review

The Meatball Marinara sub sandwich from Subway is one of my very favourites! I love the sweet, herby tomato sauce which has delicious depth and seasoning, and is delightfully warm.

The meat is so tender and so well flavoured that it's richness goes really well with the rich tomato marinara sauce.

On this occasion, I had the Italian Herbs and Cheese bread which is not my normal choice, but it is one of my more preferred breads from Subway. Normally I have the honey oat variety, with the extra texture and sweetness and the extra nutty flavour from the bread.

All in all, I highly recommend this product and give it a high five stars.

Hershey's Cookies 'N' Creme Review

We reviewed the Hershey's Cookies N Creme chocolate bar.

It is interesting that the Hershey's brand is starting to become more readily available in the UK. It seems to have a somewhat bad reputation over here as not being like the chocolate that we are used to, and of course the pride of our nation Cadbury....however it actually holds a place in my heart. It's a good tasting chocolate.

This particular version is a light white chocolate with rich cookie pieces. There are ample, ample cookie pieces and they have a very nice crunchy texture.

The chocolate has a light and sweet flavour and it goes nicely with the deep rich, chocolatey cookie pieces. The texture is really good, with the bar being quite thing and a nice layer of cookies.

All in all it's an impressive product!

Reese's Hot Chocolate - Fusions

Immediately after trying Peanut Hottie, I knew what it was destined for. The pure peanut butter taste was destined to join a chocolatey flavour drink.

I fused Peanut Hottie with Mars Drink, and it created a super sweet, Reese's reminiscent treat.

It was very.....very sweet though.

Trinidad Scorpion Chilli - Available At Tesco

Tesco have started stocking the world's second hottest chilli. The Trinidad Scorpion. It's worth noting that these are not usually stocked on the shelves and that you may need to ask for them and they will get a pack from out back. £1 for 4 chillies.

Words can do this product no justice. Please watch the above torture video of us eating these hell vegetables.

Double Chocolate Chip Cookie Review (Lidl Bakery)

I am lucky in that my local Lidl contains a bakery section.

We've started shopping there permanently now, for our weekly shop - we have been there about three or four times and one thing I've noticed is that there is always someone checking the shelves at the bakery and seeing what needs to be filled up.

These particular cookies are milk chocolate and dark chocolate, and they are 35p, or four for £1.

Considering the price, these cookies are absolutely excellent. There is a nice cookie-type flavour, slight vanilla dough. It is quite a well cooked cookie so it tastes highly baked. The texture is crispy around the edge and soft and slightly chewy in the middle.

Really good, highly recommended. Check out the video.

Lindt Hello My Name Is Cookies & Cream Review

Lindt seem to have relaunched their "Hello My Name Is" range with the addition of a new flavour - Salted Caramel, so we will be reviewing a number of these bars over the coming days.

The first one we tried was this Cookies & Cream edition. It is milk chocolate with a cookies & cream flavour cream and small cookie pieces.

The texture is rather divine, with the cream being soft and melt-in-the-mouth and the cookie pieces being a particular highlight for me due to both their abundance and that they have a very crisp texture. The flavour from the cream is very good, with a definite taste of biscuit.

Lindy chocolate is always high quality and this is the typical milk chocolate they always produce, the level of sweetness is not overpowering and all of the ingredients in this bar come together to compliment each other very well. Very impressive product.

Four stars.

Yeo Valley Greek Style Yeogurt with Honey - Website Exclusive Review

I normally pack a greek style yogurt into my packed lunch. I do this because I am trying to have a relatively healthy packed lunch, and as I gather, you can have a lot worse than a yogurt. I usually have a chicken salad wrap, an apple, a yogurt and a packet of not-super-bad-crisps (usually Pom Bear).

I typically opt for the Weight Watchers Greek style yogurts, but a few weeks ago, these Yeo Valley ones were on offer.

They are very thick, and the actual flavour of the yogurt is surprisingly strong. So much so in fact that I wasn't sure I liked it straight away. The honey flavour is throughout the yogurt, rather than actually having a separate honey portion (like the Liberte yoghurts) (by the way, I've used a number of different spelling for yoghurts, I'm aware...)

Visually it actually looks like mayonnaise, but don't let that put you off. It's nicely flavoured and creamy and because of the intensity it tastes quite rich.

Not too bad, I'd give this product three stars.

Lotus Biscoff Spread + Meridian Cashew Butter Review

It's another Food Review UK Fusions....

These two spreads are two of the best spreads I've ever tasted. I am a big fan of both of them. Combining them is an incredible fusion. Nutty and powerful with the Meridian cashew butter, and sweet and biscuit-cruncy from the Lotus spread. The flavours compliment each other beautifully.

Highly recommend this fusion.

Coca-Cola Life Review

It's finally here! Coca-Cola Life has hit the UK shelves. Having been tested in Argentina and Chile, it is now available for the first time at Morrisons.

It is a version of Coca-Cola using stevia and sugar as sweeteners instead of the sweeteners used in their other coke products.

I think the best way to describe this product is a blend between Diet Coke and Coca-Cola. It definitely has the main bulk of flavour being very similar to the classic Coca-Cola taste, but a very slight mouth feel and after taste of Diet Coke - and it is only very slight. I am not a huge fan of Diet Coke but I much preferred this one.

We rated it three stars, and four stars.

Heinz Veg Chilli Beanz Review (BuzzAgents)

I should explain a little bit about Buzz Agents before getting into this review! www.BuzzAgents.co.uk are a website where you answer surveys about things - generally consumer type questions, and then based on your answers, you will be invited to take part in campaigns where you build awareness about products, review them and generally buzz about them - you get sent free products to do this!

So this is the first Buzz Agents campaign that I have participated in. This particular product is the Heinz Veg Chilli Beanz. First of all I tried them on their own, heated up. I was surprisingly impressed! I wouldn't say that my expectations for this product were particularly high, but I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, and it sounds minor but it's worth mentioning, the texture of the kidney beans was really nice, very tender and was clearly good quality - a bit different to the normal Tesco Value kidney beans I get.

The next thing that I picked up on was the smoky flavour, which reminded me a lot of my home-made chilli, of which I tend to put a decent amount of smoked paprika in - it really did have a nice, slightly spicy, smoky depth of flavour.

There is a perfect amount of sauce, it's nicely seasoned and very flavoursome.

Next, I poured the hot beans over some tortilla chips (I happened to be using what I consider to be the best tortilla chips on the market - Kettle Tortilla Chips), and spread some cheese over the top, and baked in the oven for 5 or so minutes.

They were incredible. They really were utterly moreish. I wouldn't liked to have seen my face after consuming the entire plate, because it wasn't the cleanest of dishes or the easiest to eat, but it tasted like a very typical and traditional nacho dish, and as I am a big meat lover, I am surprised to say I didn't miss the lack of beef at all! I definitely recommend doing the nachos option as is suggested on the can.

I'd give this product four stars.

Monday 18 August 2014

Dominos Gluten-Free Crust Review

I tried the Dominos Gluten-Free Crust, from Dominos Pizza.

The crust itself lacks a little bit of the normal bread flavour that you would get from a normal Dominos crust, however it is still a nice, albeit somewhat lacking flavour. It has a light texture and is very crisp, particularly on the underside.

It's a nice choice for allergy/intolerant folk, and it provides a lighter option for people not wanting to be bogged down by a big old' heavy bread! Decent product, and I'd give it three stars.

Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups Review

Jake joins me to review the Nestle Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups! They are a fusion between the traditional chocolate and crispy peanut butter candy that Butterfinger is known for, and regular peanut butter cups.

The chocolate is slightly low quality which you can tell from the texture and the way it melts, and the whole thing doesn't seem to come together very well, the mis match of textures aren't great.

That being said, it's still very tasty. It's nicely sweet and the peanut flavour is actually surprisingly subtle. We both rated it a 3 stars.

Thursday 14 August 2014

Meridian Cashew Butter Review

I was very attracted to this product, being a big fan of both cashew nuts and separately peanut butter, this product seemed very geared towards my love!

It has a very nice, strong flavour and it has a similar kind of taste and feel to peanut butter how it makes your mouth feel kind of claggy.

Because it is natural, it maybe tastes like it could be improved with either a bit of salt or sugar to send it one way or the other, but it's still a really nice nut product.

Taste Inc Quarter Pounder With Cheese Review

Taste Inc were kind enough to send me some of their microwavable burger range to try.

This is the first of the products they sent me, the Quarter Pounder with Cheese (and Ketchup which I didn't use).

It was really tasty! It tasted like a proper barbecue cooked burger, with traditional flame grilled taste, which is exactly as it is described. It's got a nice texture and doesn't at all taste cheap. The bread bap is very impressive too, and holds up well after heating. I don't know how they managed it but the bottom bap remained springy and not wet - really good.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this burger and I'll definitely be getting it again.

Cadbury Dairly Milk Chips Ahoy! Review

I was really surprised to see this combination of Chips Ahoy! and Cadbury chocolate - afterall, we don't even HAVE Chips Ahoy cookies in the UK, so why their debut is in a Cadbury bar....I have no idea! It's curious. I can't imagine the brand would have that large of an impact over here, I'm not sure it's very well known. I find the packaging fairly unremarkable.

I really hope the Chips Ahoy cookies show up in the UK so that I can try them - the flavour in this chocolate bar is really lost among the other ingredients - the delicious, sweet, creamy classic taste of Cadbury Dairy Milk, and the very strongly flavoured, slight vanilla notes in the biscuit flavour creme.

It is a rather delightful bar, as one would expect from such a powerful brand, and an institution of British chocolate.

Description - Cadbury Dairy milk, with pieces of Chips Ahoy! Cookies and a biscuit flavour creme filling.

Rating - Four stars

Availability - At the time of writing, I have only seen this in Tesco supermarkets.

Cost - £1

What's The Deal With Mayonnaise?

In the last few days I tried mayonnaise for the first time. I tried a small sachet that came with a microwaveable burger first of all, and then I tried some from a restaurant.

I don't think I get the love for it! I know that's controversial, and I really want to get into it, but my first two tries were just okay.

It starts off with a slightly acidic, tangy taste that I guess comes from the vinegar, and then the only real flavour I get after that is just a savoury, creamy rich taste. Not much actual flavour.

I have been told that Hellmans Mayonnaise is the one I need to go for, and I will certainly try that soon.

Oreo Brownie UK Review

The Flavinator joins me for a review of the Oreo Brownie product. He got it from an import store in Watford. I was surprised by the texture, very unlike a traditional brownie and more akin to cookie dough. The creme in the middle was intensely sweet but we couldn't identify any flavour in it and are unsure if it was regular Oreo creme. The deep chocolatey flavour on the outside was pretty good though, and overall we both enjoyed the product. Check out the video for full thoughts.

Madeleine D'Armpur Review

Mmmm, these delicious buttery little babies are the best. :a Madeleine D'Armour are intensely buttery sweet sponge cakes in the shape of sea shells. They come in large packs of 18 from Costco and are quite delightful! Lovely and sweet, a light and airy sponge with a very intense sweet butter flavours, they taste indulgent. I highly recommend these things!

Snickers Rockin' Nut Road Review

I do love me a limited edition! This time it's the Snickers Rockin' Nut Road which has caramel, dark chocolate, sweet marshmallow flavour nougat and almonds, replacing the normal ingredients of Snickers. The inside is ultra sweet and this is balanced nicely by the dark chocolate on the outside. I didn't get much marshmallow flavour but that's okay. The texture was nice, with big, hard almonds providing a satisfying firm crunch and all the flavours being very harmonious. A good edition of Snickers! Sits well alongside the regular bar and is different enough from it to warrant it's existence. Check out the video for further thoughts.

I Tried Mustard For The First Time!

Wow. So I was really brave (because I'm funny with sauces) and yesterday I was essentially forced into trying mustard. I ordered the new Jack Daniels Chilli Fries from TGI Fridays, and it had mustard on it.

So I tried it on a chip first. Couldn't properly taste it but...can't say I enjoyed it.

I then tried a big bit on it's own. I definitely don't like mustard. It was tangy, almost powdery but the worst thing of all, (and I guess this is why they call it mustard - who knew) was it's musk! I did not get on with that combination of flavours at all.

If I were to give it one positive, it would be that the heat wasn't unpleasant.

Maybe....just maybe one day I'll build up the courage to try mayonnaise.

Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Toaster Chocolate Review

This a new product from Kellogg's, it's like a Nutri-Grain version of their popular Pop-Tarts product. It's an interesting one. The chocolate has a pretty nice, deep and strong flavour like a deep dark chocolate, but I'm not totally sold on the texture of the toasted outer grainy bit. It's not very sweet on the outside which doesn't go all too well with the centre. It's definitely not bad though, just didn't blow me away.

Tic Tac Cherry Passion Review

These little things really surprised me. They are Cherry & Passionfruit flavours. Both of the flavours individually are actually really enjoyable. They pack a LOT of flavour, are very sweet and they do not lose their flavour either, and it remains consistent. The magic really happens, however, when you combine the two and eat them at the same time. It is wizardry. The sweetness of the cherry cuts through the slight bitter tang of the passionfruit and it creates a really...fantastic flavour combination that I am hugely surprised has not been touched upon by other companies. Check out this amusing video review.

Pop Tarts Confetti Cupcake Review

This version of Kelloggs popular sweet breakfast product is ultra sweet. It does capture a nice cake flavour rather well, with a sweet, deep icing/vanilla flavouring going on, and this goes on with the nicely texture plain pastry. It's pretty good, and one of the better flavours that I have tried.

Popangles Sea Salt Review

After trying the Sweet & Salty flavour of Popangles, I was eager to try more. This is another unique and interesting product, much the same as sweet and salty - it was really good. The texture is so brilliant and satisfying to crunch through, that for my money it's better than regular popcorn which is arguably a risky snack. Check out the review for my full thoughts.

3 Musketeers Coconut Review

Claire and I had always heard of the 3 Musketeers bar, and under the presumption that it sounded like a Milky Way, avoided it because - what is the point? But we love Coconut things, and this was reduced so we took the plunge. I'm glad we did. The coconut flavouring was surprisingly natural and rather strong. The texture very nice and enjoyable. It's a pretty great bar!

McDonalds Chocolate Chip Iced Frappé Review

I recently tried the Chocolate Chip Iced Frappé from McDonalds. It wasn't too bad! Kind of non-descript! Not much to it. It was just alright. Flavour wasn't very strong and considering it's probably really bad for you, you should enjoy it more than I enjoyed this product. Watch the review for full thoughts.

Old El Paso Stand N' Stuff Soft Tacos Review

I do love a bit of Old El Paso! When I saw these soft taco bowls being advertised it was immediately attractive because whilst I've always enjoyed soft tacos, I have found them quite the challenge to eat. I am happy to report that whilst this product does taste really nice and I think it's a great option for an incredibly easy and tasty dinner - the best thing about it is the ease of eating. Hassle free. I highly recommend this product.

McDonalds Mint Aero McFlurry Review

Wheeee! Another new McFlurry from McDonalds and wow, these guys have been hitting it out of the park recently with their McFlurry's. Twix was my favourite until now, but this has matched it. The mint is sweet and crisp, and because it's not chocolatey sauce it allows the mint flavour to come through and not be over powered. The Aero chocolate tastes a bit sweeter than normal Aero which is good and the texture is great with the bubbles! Bloomin' lovely!

Mint M&M's Review

Claire is a huge fan of M&M's and she loves mint stuff. To say we were hyped for this product goes without saying. It didn't disappoint! Perfect amount of sugar shell which lends to nice sweetness, the dark chocolate on the inside is nice and the mint gives a nice deep flavour. Really nice! Check out the video for full thoughts.

Cadbury Roses Pots of Joy Strawberry Dream Review

I have tried different Cadbury Pots Of Joy before, and honestly, have never been very impressed! Until now that is. They have captured the taste of the chocolate very well, it tastes identical, the texture is really nice and in this dessert the combination of chocolate and strawberry works very well. It's not exactly creamy, but more tangy and just works really well.

Domino's Cheese & Garlic Pizza Review

I reviewed a create your own pizza from Dominos. I selected double cheese and single garlic butter on a regular crust. It was delicious. It had the perfect balance of flavours, a decent amount of cheese and the garlic was not at all overpowering. Check out the video for full thoughts.

Mrs Freshley's Swiss Rolls with Reese's Review

We review a product that I had never heard of until I saw it! Now "Mini Rolls" have always seemed a little over-hyped to me, but obviously adding Reese's to it is not going to do it any harm. Definitely the best "mini rolls" type product I have ever had, but suffered from the same problems as normal "mini rolls" - chocolate isn't amazing, and very dry. Alright though! Check out the video for full thoughts.

Tango Ice Blast Mango Flavour Review

David and I tried the brand new (I think first ever NEW flavour) of Tango Ice Blast. This is the mango flavour. It is surprisingly not super strong, it was perfectly sweet, very refreshing and the texture is brilliant. It has a delicious amount of tang.

Gulp Strawberry Milkshake Review

This is a very indulgent tasting milkshake, it tastes like a very rich strawberry dessert. I recently had the vanilla flavour Gulp, and whilst I preferred that one, this is still a really nice tasting milkshake with a nice reasonably thick but not too-thick creamy texture. I recommend it.

Dominos EPIC Nachos - Food Review UK Fusions

Bam! This fusion was...kind of amazing! I took the Dominos Nachos, Dominos Fajita Wedges and Dominos Chicken Kickers and fused the heck out of them to create a godly concoction of lovely cajun flavours, nice heat and glorious textures. Check out the video for my full thoughts.

Propercorn Sweet Coconut & Vanilla Review

Propercorn is branded as a low-calorie and premium popcorn product. This is a unique and interesting flavour combination - Coconut and Vanilla and wow does that combination go extraordinarily well together! The flavour is divine. You don't get a huge amount and the flavouring isn't strong enough throughout but it's a very nicely made product and I recommend trying it!

Gulp Vanilla Milkshake Review

Gulp has been a brand I keep seeing but I finally took the plunge! I'm glad I did, turns out they're really nice. The vanilla has a nice deep and natural vanilla flavouring, it is a nice indulgent thickness whilst not being too thick and it's not too sweet. Very creamy tasting.

Calippo Bubble Gum Flavour Review

I was very surprised to see the addition of Bubble Gum flavour to the Calippo arsenal, but excited too. I got this for £1.89 which seems very expensive...and is certainly not RRP, I would guess! Anyway, we cracked it open and the smell is very strong. It's got an almost slightly mellowed bubblegum flavour which is nice, as I explain in the video, bubblegum that you've chewed for a few seconds so the initial flavour is gone. It's very sweet, but it is very refreshing. Good product.

Valencia Peanut Butter Filled Pretzel Nuggets Review

When I went to Costco for the first time recently, my eyes lit up when I saw this gigantic container of delight before me. Had I died and entered the pearly white gates? No, these actually exist. "Valencia Peanut Butter Filled Pretzel Nuggets" it sounded like the culmination of every great thing on this Earth. I was very excited to try them for the first time. Funnily enough it wasn't the flavour that hit me first, it was the instant removal of liquid from my mouth - these are the dryest things you could ever eat. It's salty, a satisfying texture, slightly sweet and deep peanut butter and it munches down into a glorious concoction. Highly recommended.

Reese's Crispy Crunchy Review

This is a super sweet, super nutty, rich chocolate bar. It's got crispy peanut butter flavour sugary crystallised kind of candy, peanut butter and nuts. It's almost too much! Very Reese's-ey. Check out the video for full details.

Skittles Wild Berry Milkshake Review

I was surprised to see this new flavour of Skittles Milkshake in the supermarket the other day, and....a bit excited. The Skittles milkshake was the first product I reviewed on FRUK. I opened the lid and the aroma hit me immediately, very sweet berry smell, and reminiscent of the wild berry Skittles themselves. The taste is really good, a nice balance of different berry flavours that all work really well together! Check out the video for the full review.

Walkers Market Deli Tortilla Chips Anglesey Sea Salt With Cracked Black Pepper Review

What a disappointing product! Tortilla Chips themselves are very low quality. The actual flavouring is definitely poor. It's disappointing that they put such a poor flavour behind such fancy packaging and wording. It contains Anglesey Sea Salt - not that you'd know it. So this product that has such a long title is far FAR worse than Kettle Tortilla Chips Sea Salt which doesn't hide behind fancy sounding names and is just very good with very few, simple ingredients. Wasn't keen on this at all, tastes cheap and low quality.

Jelly Belly BeanBoozled Challenge

David and Claire take on the Jelly Belly Beanboozled challenge! Disgusting flavours of jelly beans (or nice ones) await them!

Dominos Nachos Review

Dominos have introduced a number of new products....this coincides with the World Cup but I'm not sure if they are limited time items. The Nachos are actually pretty good! I really like the light spicing and flavouring on the tortilla chips themselves, it has a nice cajun flavour, quite light but a nice zest of lime and spicyness. The texture is very nice, firm and warm and almost with a nice bakey texture, and the cheese and tomato work well with it. Pretty good! Check out the video for full thoughts.

Reese's Fast Break Review

Thank you very much to friend and star of Food Review UK, Sir David Flavin for providing a big old bag of goodies to munch our (my) way through. First up is Reese's Fast Break, which contains peanuts, peanut butter, nougat and is covered in chocolate. This bar, like a lot of Reese's products is really rich, but it's also absolutely delicious. Very sweet and with quite a mouth covering texture, it feels very much like a treat eating it. Check out the video for full thoughts.

Fake Oreo Showdown!

Claire and I review four different attempts at the popular Oreo cookie/biscuit. The results are surprising on which one is the best! They range from the premium product from M&S to the crazy O2 from the likes of B&M bargains. Check out the video above!

Cherry Twizzlers Review

The lads banter lads are back! We review the cherry Twizzlers sweety, which is like red licorice. The flavour is....a bit strange. Quite artificial tasting and it seems to have taken on the flavour of the plastic packaging. Not super amazing or impressed with this one!

Costco Pepperoni Pizza Review

I could not believe how good this pizza was! One slice is massive and reasonably priced (about £1.35 ish), the flavour was fantastic, good quality pepperoni, delicious cheese and the dough tasted unbelievably airy and fresh. One of the best pizzas I have ever had in the UK. Watch the video for full thoughts.

Cadbury Caramel Doughnuts Review

The Cadbury Caramel doughnuts are available in supermarkets - I've seen them in ASDA and Morrisons so far. They look very appealing and they have got a pretty nice texture. The caramel centre is ample and has a velvety caramel texture. Not too bad but don't live up to the Cadbury name. Check out the video!

Baby Ruth Review

I have always seen Baby Ruth but never been all too interested in it. Its a bit like a snickers, with the same general components but strange how it is so different. The ingredients all feel like separate elements thrown together, but I quite enjoyed some of the flavours and textures. Check out the video for full thoughts!

Philadelphia Almondy Lemon Cheesecake Review

This was a surprising find! Philadelphia collides with almondy. I am a big fan of almondy tarts and this new one is no exception. My biggest revelation was how well lemon and earthy almond went together! Good product, check out the video.

Popangles Sweet & Salty Review

All I can say is that these things are absolutely fantastic. Great popcorn flavour without all the bad texture, and hard non-popped kernels and burnt ones and expense....everything bad about popcorn is taken out and everything good kept in. Excellent product. Check out the video.

Bud Light Lime Review

Nate and Gossi are back for a review of the Bud Light Lim beer product. We were at wars as to how limey it was, with Nate and myself not being huge fans of beer, we felt it could be more limey whereas fan of beer Gossi tasted nothing but lime. Check out the video!

Premium Aloe Vera Drink Review

I am really not a fan of these kind of drinks! To be honest the flavour of this one was quite nice, but the texture totally kills it for me. I don't like yoghurts with bits in either, but a drink with bits in is definitely not for me.

Mars Caramel Milk Review

I recently purchased this new milkshake product from Mars - Mars Caramel milk. It was actually delicious! Really tasty caramel flavour milkshake with a very slight chocolatey back-note, and a nice velvety texture. Highly recommended. Check out the video for full thoughts.

Mars Caramel Review

Mars Caramel is like a Mars but a lot smaller...because the noughat has been removed. I actually enjoyed this product a fair bit. I was surprised how much it tastes like a normal Mars bar. Check out the video to see our full thoughts.

Monday 23 June 2014

Mars Mix Review

I review the "Mars Mix" chocolate product, which I believe is a re-brand of Mars Planets, to bring it in line with the Twix Mix. These things are pretty good! I actually prefer them to a Mars Bar, as the vehicle of consumption is a satisfying airy little ball instead of a chunky bar. Not knowing what you are going to get (of the two options) adds a slight element of fun. Check out the video.

Burger King XL Bacon Double Cheeseburger Review

Here's the review for the classic Burger King product the XL Bacon Double Cheeseburger. This has got to be one of the biggest burgers available in chains in the UK. I love this thing. Nice good flavour from the beef, the texture melts in your mouth, nice deep smokeyness from the bacon. Check out the video for full thoughts.

Almond Muffin from BB's Review

The Almond muffin from BB's Muffins is a great product. Not at all skimpy on ingredients and thus taste with flaked almonds dotted throughout the muffin, the texture is excellent and the cake was very moist. It's also quite large. Great product, check out the video review above.

Captain America : The Winter Soldier Candy Sticks Review

This video has to be seen to be believed due to the tattoo on my forehead. Regarding the candy sticks however....I do not remember this type of sweetie being so flavourless when I was a kid. I have fond memories of them from back then, but the flavour of these things was disappointing! Rather bland.

Dominos Pizza Twisted Dough Balls Pepperoni Review

These little twisted dough balls are great! The texture is very nice and airated. There is a slight garlic taste and the pepperoni adds a nice saltiness and enhances everything. The cheese adds a dairy edge and they're great! Particularly good if you're a fan of thin and crispy pizza from Dominos as it helps fill a proper bread gap! Watch the video for full thoughts.

Skittles Krush'Em KFC Review

David and I reviewed the Skittles Krush'Em available exclusively at KFC. It was fruity and sweet, really delivered on a true taste of Skittles. The chewiness of the Skittles inside was few and far between and most of the sweet chunks were crisp and hard rather than chewy - this was nice though. Highly recommended, check out the video for full details.

WKD Brazilian Review

We review the new special edition WKD. The flavour is "Brazilian" which in this case equates to mainly pineapple. I got a bit of coconut too so it gave pina colada vibes and generally tastes quite "tropical". It has an energy-drink flavour to it. Check out the video for our full thoughts.

Drumstick Squashies (Swizzels Matlow) Review

Drumsticks are among my favourite sweets. Raspberry is such a fantastic flavour and it goes so well with dairy type flavours, in this case milk. When Swizzels Matlow first released the Squashies brand I thought it was such a great idea. These sweets are slightly tangy with the counterbalance of the smoothness of the milk flavour and their texture is brilliant. Really big fan of these.

Watch the video for my full thoughts.

Twix McFlurry Review (and dancing)

In this video I had a few technical issues. This means that for the first third of the video instead of the video of me examining the McFlurry you will witness me dancing.

Then I eat the actual ice cream! Really nice. It was full with generous toppings of caramel sauce and short biscuit bites and the flavour of the ice cream was pretty standard but sweet and cream and worked well together. Check out the review above for my full thoughts.

Double Stuff Oreo Review

Check out the review above, Double Stuff Oreo. I can certainly understand the appeal and surprisingly it doesn't affect the normal Oreo taste or experience all that much, but it's still a fantastic product.

McFlurry Burger - Food Review UK Fusions

I fused a Smarties McFlurry with a Plain Hamburger (both from McDonalds of course). What you cannot get from the video is an understanding of how quickly the McFlurry melted. It was almost instant once I put it in the pseudo-oven (burger), and I was left with a creamy mess!

Check out the video for my impressions.

Two Men Eat Shower Gel

Here's a classic video from the FRUK archives, in case you missed it, Jake and I decided to eat some shower gel (coconut flavour) to celebrate reaching the milestone on the FRUK YouTube channel.

Looking back on it, it certainly makes me laugh but the long lasting after taste is one that I would not necessarily recommend.

Choco Leibniz Caramel Review

I have reviewed the new flavour of the Choco Leibniz family, this one contains soft gooey caramel nestled between a thick and crisp sheet of chocolate and the buttery sweet biscuit below. It's a really nice product, the texture of each element is very satisfying and whilst the flavour of the caramel is ample, they could have packed a bit more in. Watch the video for full review.

Ruffles ARE Available In The UK

Just in case you didn't realise it, we can actually get Ruffles in the UK. They are sold (as a UK version) in ASDA. Here's the video review below.

Reese's Peanut Butter BIG CUP Review

Wild Cherry Pepsi Review

Nathan, my dear friend provided us with an imported product to review. This is the Wild Cherry flavour Pepsi. I thought it was very similar to Cherry Coke, it had a pretty nice cherry flavour, but it was strange because it was difficult to tell it was Pepsi - tasted so similar to Cherry Coke. Check out the video for our full thoughts.

NEW PRODUCT - Foster's Radler Lime & Ginger

I have reviewed the new variety of Foster's Radler - Lime & Ginger. Being a big fan of the original cloudy lemon flavour Radler I was very excited to taste this flavour. It's crisp, aromatic and ultra refreshing. Great product. Watch the video above for my full thoughts!
