Welcome to the first of my Florida Food Diary where I will guide you through everything (well almost everything....the main meals and big snacks) we had on our recent holiday.
On the first day, we pretty much just flew there and crashed at the hotel, so here we go;
V-Room (Virgin) At London Gatwick
Cooked breakfast consisting of Bacon, Sausage, Scrambled Egg, Mushroom, Lightly Seeded Toast and Beans. Was pretty nice. I love cooked breakfast, and it all seemed pretty good quality, despite being "canteen" type food. Low four!
White Chocolate & Macadamia Nut Cookie - This one really surprised me - tasted a lot like a Subway cookie but with a more cooked, cakey texture. High four.
Virgin Atlantic Flight
Beef Chilli Con Carne with Rice, cheese and creme fraiche. Surprisingly good. Nice flavour and not bad texture. Three stars.
GU Mango Passionfruit Cheesecake - I cannot believe how good this was. Texture was great, but the flavour was so amazing. Perfect balance of tropical flavours with deep sweetness, the mango and passionfruit balanced so well together. These people know how to make a pud - PLANE FOOD GETTING A FIVE STAR REVIEW?!?!?!?!
Tyrrells Plane Crisps - Fun packaging, a tiny bag with tiny crisps in and called "Plane Crisps", they were okay! Not my personal favourite texture, but normal crisps like this aren't really my thing. Low three stars.
Flippers Pizza
We had a few different types of Pizza from the local pizzeria chain in Orlando. We had Triple Pepperoni, which was just a tiny bit disappointing. They took a long long time to deliver so it was a little cooler than hoped, but it was still nice. Lots of cheese and a premium quality pepperoni.
My favourite was the Margarita pizza (unsure of spelling). Big disks of mozzerella on it with a load of basil! Worked perfectly together with the very high quality and tasty tomato pomodoro sauce. Four stars.
